Shea butter has been a staple in my household for three years now. I’m not a real stickler about my shea butter but I do tend to stick to the yellow kind. So which shea butter is better: white or yellow? They both are equally great. The only difference between the two is how the shea butter is produced.    In a few weeks, I’ll be sharing my DIY whipped shea butter cream, body butter and ezema cream. I’m a big fan of NuNAAT so I was ecstatic when given the opportunity to review their new Real Me Curl-to-Coil Collection. This new collection has six products including a hair pomade and hair mask. The products contain a list special ingredients called “ join complex ”. I’ve included my review of each product below along with a short video of how I used the products. Lather Up & Hydrate Shampoo – This was just a typical shampoo for me. It did have a great lather and my hair felt cleansed afterwards. If you’re like me, you’ve probably struggled with a wash n' go hairstyle. By definition a wash n' go is when you wash your hair and apply little product without styling.  The problem that most of us experience is that a wash n' go technically isn't a wash n' GO . It takes two days for my hair to air dry.  Depending on how coarse you hair is, you may use a lot more product then you’d typically do for a wash n' go. So here are my tips on perfecting a wash n' go for 4b/4c texture chics. Start your style on the weekend. Use a clarifying shampoo to ensure that you get rid of all build up. Use A LOT of conditioner and I do mean a lot.  I use 75% of a brand new jar of conditioner.  Finger detangle with the conditioner in your hair. Avoid using any combs or brushes as this causes frizz. Lightly pat your hair with an old cotton tee shirt. DO NOT excessively ring out the water. Water = moisture.  (your hair does not need to be dripping wet but it should be pr...

Achieving a great twist out really isn’t that hard to do. I think most naturals get caught up in products when in reality it’s the technique that produces a great hairstyle. Below I’m providing my tips on how to achieve a great twist out. Set your twists for a few days. I hardly ever unravel my twists the next day. I typically allow my twists to set for 2-3 days. You can wear your hair in an updo or pull your twists back in a ponytail or bun until your ready to unravel. Fewer products are better. I use only one product to set the twists. I find that using fewer products is the best way to avoid build up. It’ll also help you to achieve fluffier twist outs.  There are so many great products out there but my favorite is the TGIN Twist and Define cream . Oils – I have a lot of hair so I like to rub oils on my twists once I’m done. If your hair is thin, I wouldn’t recommend this. Instead, oil your scalp and use a light oil to unravel. Our hair is naturally dry because of how our hair grows out of the scalp. Did you know that our hair grows up? That’s a discussion for another post. There are tons of carrier and essential oils that offer an array of benefits for our hair and body. If you’re unsure of which oils to use, start off with coconut, jojoba, and olive oil. You can find coconut and olive oil at just about any grocery store, although I’d recommend Whole Foods for all three.
